First of the Summer Wines

Win a mixed case of wine

With the sun finally shining and the summer looking to be the finest since 1976, now’s the time to get out there and enjoy the great outdoors. Whether you’re picnicking in the park, camping in the countryside or lunching on the lawn, a glass of fine summer wine makes it an extra special treat.  Right in time for the warmer weather, we’ve three wines that perfectly fit the summer bill…

Warm, sunny weather and chilled white wine – a match truly made in heaven and for us it doesn’t get much more blissful than when the white is Hardy’s Stamp Semillon-Chardonnay. With its mouthwatering bouquet of red apples, peaches and honey and rounded melon and citrus flavours it’s a must-try with barbecued fish or chicken or even a slice of Country Crisp Raspberry Brulee Tart.

Of course summer wouldn’t be summer without a barbecue or two which means plenty of roasted meat, heavily smoked veggie burgers and roasted vegetables. For such foods you really need a soft, silky smooth red that will draw out the flavours without overwhelming them.  Just such a wine is Hardy’s Stamp Shiraz/Cabernet. A riot of black berries and currants, this gentle, spicy, cheery wine delivers almost as much fruitiness as a bowl of Country Crisp Flame Raisins  and has a similar, creamy vanilla tone to the finish.  Ripe enough to take on even chili-marinated BBQ beef and well-done cheese burgers, the Stamp is also mellow enough to make for a lovely evening solo sipper.

One of my great passions has always been fizz but until quite recently it had to be reserved for high days and high pay days!  These days though things are happily very different and we can all enjoy great value, top quality sparkling wine. Hardy’s Rosé Stamp typifies this new range of affordable-fizzes.  Salmon-pink in colour with pretty, tiny bubbles, the nose is uncannily like a freshly opened box of Country Crisp Real Strawberries being redolent with juicy strawberries tones.  As dry as it is refreshing and with canapés, seafood or just by itself it’s a true taste of affordable luxury, though for true a indulgence try it with Meringue Layer Cake – heaven!

If these have tickled your palate remember you can win a mixed six bottle case of these three super summer sippers by telling us what you like to see from the CCAS.  To share your thoughts simply leave a comment below…

Maybe you would like to see more tasting events, or have the chance to meet the team behind Country Crisp, whatever your idea we would like to hear from you. And if you do leave a comment with your suggestions below you will be entered into a prize draw to win a mixed case of Hardy’s wines, you can’t say fairer than that so please do leave your ideas below.

Please remember to drink responsibly.

CCAS Members Morning at Leith’s

Posted: May 12th, 2010 at 9:03am

On Saturday we held our first members morning at Leith’s Cookery School and boy did we have fun. We picked ten winners who had entered a competition to come and join us on the morning. When they arrived we had a huge breakfast of Country Crisp while Julia from the cluster baking team talked us through the different flavours. Then we baked an amazing Pear and Chocolate Country Crisp cake, which smelt amazing as it cooked in the oven. And then everyone had the chance to make up their own flavour of Country crisp using a selection of natural ingredients we use in our kitchens at Jordans. It was such a fun day and I hope that we will be organising more CCAS events soon, watch this space. Thank you to everyone for coming along.
